This is a perfect gem of a place to stay in Shrewsbury. It may not look very inspiring from the road - bit the accommodation which is spread labyrinth like across multiple buildings of different periods - but the rooms are very nice, the atmosphere is great and the bar / lounge is a great place to hang. The location - next to the English Bridge over the Seven - is also perfect :)
A gem of a place, ideally located close enough to walk to just about anywhere in Shrewsbury, but just far enough away to be outside the main thoroughfare at chucking out time. Unfortunately our room faced into the main road and whilst its not an overly busy road the noise did travel a little.The food in the restaurant was unique, fresh and well prepared, the small bar and lounge had a cosy feel, as did the individual room we stayed in. Being an old building you expect a few quirky features, and this added to the character and charm of the hotel.
Christmas Dinner and overnight stay. I highly recommend this hotel. Food and service was gorgeous. I had an outside apartment that was stylish and unique. Couldn't fault it 5 *
This hotel was amazing. My husband booked it for my 40th Birthday and wow was I impressed. We stayed in the loft suite and it was fantastic. So relaxing, incredibly clean and tidy, modern touches, relatively quiet, and super comfy bed. The shower had excellent pressure and the free standing bath was nothing short of spa like. They provided slippers, hair dryer, and a wardrobe, along with basic toiletries. The food was incredible, the staff lovely and kind, what a great place! Cannot wait to visit again, probably the best hotel we've stayed in for a long time. Most places you just get a hotel and rarely stay in it, but this hotel, well it was different, it was the perfect place to relax, unwind, and just be. It was perfection.
Good but not extraordinary food. Very small portions. You would need to have 3 courses to feel satisfied, at a cost of nearly 40 without drinks. For me, the Lion & Pheasant is a triumph of style over substance. The staff are attentive and the place is cosy. It is a pleasant place to eat.
